One of the advantages of having a garden is that you can have several species nearby to prepare many dishes. Here are some of the spices we recommend you to have in your garden and some recipes you can make with them:
- Basil: This spice is used with high frequency in Italian cuisine due to its aromatic flavor and versatility. Some of the most well-known recipes are Margherita pizza, Caprese salad, pesto sauce , and cucumber and basil gazpacho. Here’s what you need for each recipe:
Margarita Pizza
Pizza dough: 375 g of wheat flour, 225 ml of warm water, 3 g of pressed yeast or 1 g of fresh yeast, and 10 g of salt. It is recommended to refrigerate the dough for 24 hours and at least 1 hour.

- 10 gr of wheat flour

- 150 gr of gruyere or mozzarella cheese.
- 20 ml of white wine, brandy or cognac.
To prepare this soup, cut the onion and garlic into long thin strips. Both should be cooked in 60 gr of butter and olive oil. The idea is that the onions don’t turn brown, they should become transparent with a light golden color. Once the onions are cooked, they should be mixed with wheat flour for a couple of minutes, and then add the liquor of your choice. This process takes between 20 and 25 minutes. Afterward, add two liters of water. Finally, after about 20 to 25 minutes, the soup should be served and sprinkled with cheese, and cooked in a preheated oven at 200°C for 5 to 6 minutes
